Holds
Our Hold Shelf contains 3 different specific types of requests:
Summit: Is a lending/borrowing system we share with the Orbis-Cascade Alliance. This is a group of colleges and universities located throughout the Pacific Northwest.
- These materials are processed using ALMA and are checked in/out at the desk.
- When checked in:
- The white band or sticker on the cover should be crossed out
- The inside hold slip should be removed and placed in recycling
- The materials should be placed in the Summit/ILL return basket.
- Once the basket is full, please take the materials to the ILL office next to the first-floor printers and place them on the large counter. On weekends and after 5pm you will need a key to access the office
ILL: ILL is a lending service that has worldwide access options!
- It operates through a program called Iliad that we do not have access to through ALMA.
- If folks have questions regarding ILL holds, they should be referred to the ILL office during business hours (8am-5pm M-F) or provided with the email: libill@uidaho.edu outside of those times.
- The due date is posted on the colored band and the lending periods vary significantly.
- ILL requests have colored slips inside that should be dated and put in the ILL/Summit basket at checkout.
- When returned the material should be placed into the ILL/Summit basket.
In-House: Sometimes folks on campus would prefer that we go up to the stacks for them and they place holds on our materials.
- We pull these materials each morning and place them on the hold shelf.
- These materials will have a name slip, and the barcode will be at the bottom of the right-hand cover.
