Reference Desk
The Reference Desk is where students, faculty, staff, and community members can ask any questions about using the library and conducting research. Reference librarians are available in-person during regular hours, via chat (24/7), via email, and via phone (208-885-6584).
The Reference Desk is open at different hours to the Main Library, so you may receive references and research questions when a librarian is not available to help.
If a reference librarian is present at the desk, please refer the following types of questions to them:
- Do you have this book, article, item, etc.?
- Do you have any books, articles, items, etc. about ‘x’ topic?
- I am doing research on ‘x’ topic, can you help me find sources?
- I am looking for books written in a specific language…
If a reference librarian is not present at the desk and if you feel comfortable, please go ahead, and help students, faculty, staff, and community members find a named item (Do you have this book, article, source, etc.?).
If other reference and research questions are asked when a reference librarian is not present, please refer the student, faculty, staff, or community member to our 24/7 chat service, ask them to follow-up with us via email, or ask them to return during the Reference Desk’s regular hours.
